With the dogfighting allegations and more recently his indictment, Michael Vick is being dropped down on owners’ draft boards.
Don’t let him drop off yours.
Speaking from a statistical standpoint, if Vick avoids injury you can expect him to put up great numbers. While they may not be consistent, they will make him a decent starting quarterback and a strong number two on your team’s depth chart.
Last season he managed to finish fourth among all quarterbacks in fantasy points. The season before he finished 10th and before that 12th. Assuming your league has 12 teams, Vick would have been a worthy starter each of those seasons.
Now, moving on from the numbers game, you’re probably asking, What about his suspension?
What suspension?
Do not expect Michael Vick to be suspended this season, unless he is convicted. The league’s new policy concerning suspension of players is meant to crack down on multiple offenders. Vick is not necessarily a repeat offender.
The NFL’s recently released statement essentially said that the allegations are harsh, but the league is going to wait until the facts are revealed during court proceedings. Add to that reports from ESPN saying he won’t receive a sentence until well after the season, you shouldn’t worry.
Let other owners do the worrying while you keep Vick in your top 10.

I have never really been sold on Vick. But, like you mentioned over the past 3 seasons he’s managed to improve. Now that he has this distraction will it help him or hurt him? Either way it goes he should be slapped for involving himself in something that ridiculous. Anyway, I have a feeling that Vick is at best a #2 right now.
I too would only draft Vick as a #2 right now, but his value is goes up as drafts progress. And based on fan reactions I’ve seen, he’ll fall hard to mid-late rounds where he’s worth drafting.
